I took the poor Plymouth to Chedburgh, with Richard's emotional support, this morning for the start of the long journey to Beijing by sea. After weeks of drama getting prepared, and even a pretty big moment last week when I thought we wouldn't go due to what seemed like an irrepairable oil leak into the rear brake drum, I was heartened by the state of some of the other cars. What's a little brake drum problem compared with an engine replaced today?! So I didn't cry, but it was not dissimilar to sending a child off to boarding school... lists and an aching heart. R

  1. Well the Plymouth has reached Germany - presuming its sharing the containership carrying our Toyota truck

Due to leave Hambourg tomorow, heading for Suez.
